This study presents the first report of Aedes aegypti laying eggs on water surface an artificial breeding site in field. occurred city Rio de Janeiro inside a white bucket containing 11 liters rainwater. Conspecific larvae had previously been found this bucket. From 219 obtained, 135 (61.6%) were laid and 84 (38.3%) border Larvae (4th instar) adults obtained from identified as A. aegypti. behavior may influence population dynamics expands knowledge about species adaptation. confirms species’ ability to lay sites field suggests hypothesis that pheromones females water. KEY WORDS: Ethology; aegypti; adaptation; disease vectors; mosquito vectors.

[Effect of larval rearing water on Aedes aegypti oviposition in the laboratory].
To evaluate the influence of larval rearing water on Aedes aegypti oviposition, four types of water were provided for gravid females. It was observed that more eggs were laid in the mixed larval rearing water (2,837) than in the Aedes albopictus water (690) or control water (938), but that this number was similar to what was seen in the Aedes aegypti water (2,361).
